Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening has proven popular with both men and women from all walks of life from celebrities to housewives and career professionals. Over time, the natural ageing process and your lifestyle drinking coffee, tea, or wine and smoking can stain your teeth. With our new teeth whitening procedure your smile will be restored to its natural white beauty and your entire whitening experience will be carried out a highly qualified practitioner.

What is tooth whitening
Tooth whitening is a highly effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without adversely affecting any of the tooth's surface. It can make a huge improvement to your smile.

Why would I want to get my teeth whitened
There are a number of reasons why you might wish to get your teeth whitened. Everyone is different; and just as our hair and skin colour vary, so do our teeth. Very few people have brilliant-white teeth, and our teeth can also become more discoloured as we get older.

Your teeth can also be stained on the surface through food and drinks such as tea, coffee, red wine and blackcurrant. Smoking can also stain teeth.

Tartar can also affect the colour of teeth. Some people may have staining under the surface, which can be caused by certain antibiotics such as Tetracycline.

How does it work
TThe main ingredient in all teeth whitening products is 6% hydrogen peroxide.  This hydrogen peroxide turns into water and oxygen, and almost all types of stains are lifted out.  In short, the whitening gel is activated by saliva, releasing oxygen to the teeth and the process begins.  The "laser" light speeds uo the whitening process.

Will the teeth whitening system work for everybody
The system is most effective on healthy unrestored teeth.  Although surface stain removal will occur on most artificial dental products (ie crowns bridges etc) they will not lighten any more than their original colour.

Is it safe
Over a decade of clinical research in the USA indicates that teeth whitening is completely safe, however, we recommend pregnant women, nursing mothers and anyone taking any form of medication consult their GP prior to whitening their teeth.

Apart from sensitivity is there any other side effects
There have been reports of discomfort in the gums, a sore throat or even white patches on the gum line but these are all very rare. These symptoms are temporary and should disappear within a few days of ceasing whitening.

If any of these symptoms continue you should consult your dentist.

Is there any after care I should follow?
In the first 48 hours your teeth will be vunerable to staining so we would advise you to avoid staining food and drinks such as red wine, coffee, tea, spinach, curry, tomato based foods etc.

How long will it last?
All whitening procedures eventually wear off and teeth gradually return to a darker shade but results can last 6 months to 2 years depending on client's lifestyle.  You can top-up your whitening procedure at home with home whitening products.
